Okay, now here's the couple that anime-fandom has affectionately dubbed as
the chicken-head and the fox-lady. Hmm, sometimes I wonder about these animal
comparisons because they're a bit too appropriate at times, ne? *chuckles
wickedly* Well Takani Megumi comes from a family of doctors and is
herself a physician too. Sagara Sanosuke is a former gangster whose
nickname "Zanza" practically terrifies the entire Tokyo population (well
not quite like the Hitokiri Battousai but he'll do). When Megumi bursts
into the middle of Sano and Kenshin's little gambling game, a whole new love-hate
relationship between the chicken and the fox begins.

Sanosuke is a freeloader who practically lives off the Kamiya dojo and spends his days pursuing, shall we say, less honorable activities. Hehe...gambling, fighting, and drinking are his specialties. However, he's a great guy to have around in a tight situation and often his skills surprise the many people who like to insult him. He's also hilarious and is always getting into arguments with all the other characters (hmm....Cho, Yumi, and especially Saitoh in particular). But hey, every story needs some sort of comic relief, and Sano provides that as well as some yummy eye candy =D He's also a great guy at heart. |
| Megumi is a young woman-doctor who tries to help people in order to atone for her sins as a former opium maker (and if that little bit sounds familiar, we all know that it was Kenshin who gave her the idea in the first place). She lives with Dr Genzai and helps him with the patients at the clinic. Though a sly person who loves to flirt with Kenshin and tease her friends mercilessly, sometimes we see that she's the one who actually knocks some sense into the other characters in the show (and goodness knows that sometimes they do need some knocking around...) And I refuse to believe that she's head over heels in love with Kenshin because she's too smart to be pining over a guy who obviously loves someone else. What I like most about Megumi though is her patented "Ohohoho!" laugh, which is basically something only she can pull off =D It's become a Takani Megumi trademark of sorts *grins* |  |
Key episodes for Sano and Megumi are ones that I also love to watch over and over again. Remember that wonderful (well it might not be so wonderful to die-hard Sano fans but I thought it was one of the cool episodes even though I do like our Sano) episode where Saitoh shows up for the first time? Well it seems like Megumi's worry was a little too non-platonic as she cared for Sano's wounds. But my favorite Sano and Megumi scene has got to be episode 95 with our boy singing in the tub! Sometimes I do wonder what Sanosuke would do for cash if he ever did settle down with the fox, but I suppose Megumi could make enough to support them all (although the thought of women supporting men certainly does NOT appeal to me *sigh*). And I really can see these two have dozens of kids =D
